Tesla plans to expand into Malaysia, says the country’s Minister of International Trade and Industry. In response to the statement, the manufacturer plans to ascertain a head office, experience and repair centers, and its own network of Superchargers.

Tesla continues to expand and has plans to take a position in Malaysia. The strength of the electrical and electronic (E&E) sector within the country prompted the corporate to decide on Malaysia, Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said, based on The Edge Markets. These sectors, along with the semiconductor sector, are critical components for electric vehicles.

Asked about Tesla’s proposed investment size, Tengku Zafrul said it has not yet been finalized. “That is a non-public investment and we’ll wait,” he told reporters Wednesday on the sidelines of Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd’s automation and digital forum series, entitled ‘Driving Business Thru Digitalization and Automation-The Journey Together.’

In response to the minister, initially, Tesla plans to ascertain a head office in Malaysia, experience centers for automotive sales, and repair centers for his or her maintenance. As well as, a Supercharger Network can be created. All that is mandatory. Currently, the closest official Tesla service center is in Singapore, and Greentech leasing program owners ship their vehicles back to Hong Kong if a serious overhaul is required.
