Tesla Megafactory produces one Megapack every 68 minutes. At full capability, the Megafactory will add as much as 40 GWh of storage capability per yr, which is the same as 50 fossil fuel peaker plants.
Tesla has shared a recent video from its production site in Lathrop, California, where it manufactures the next-generation Megapack units. The corporate said the Megafactory is the biggest battery manufacturing plant in North America. It helps the corporate scale Megapack production and quickly add clean energy storage to the grid.
“Megapack factory is the biggest utility-scale battery factory in North America where we produce Megapack 2 XL. Megafactory help us scale Megapack production and add clean energy storage to the grid quickly all while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.”
The Megapack 2 XL is the brand new, largest battery pack with built-in power electronics and thermal systems for prime efficiency, easy integration, and improved scalability. To fabricate batteries, Tesla uses the identical core thermal components which can be utilized in Tesla cars. This permits Megapack to work in the toughest conditions in numerous climates.
“Megapack 2 XL is our biggest battery yet with integrated power electronics and thermal systems for prime efficiency enabling easy integration and improved scalability and uses the identical core thermal components as Tesla vehicles ensuring Megapack can operate in among the hardest conditions.”
Tesla revealed within the video that the Megafactory can produce one Megapack every 68 minutes. Which means that about 22 units leave the assembly line day-after-day. Which means that in the mean time, the production capability of the ability is greater than 8,000 units. Nonetheless, production continues to ramp up because the factory has an installed capability of 10,000 units per yr. At full capability, the Megafactory will add as much as 40 GWh of storage capability equal to 50 fossil fuel peaker plants.
