Elon Musk has apologized for sharing a baseless conspiracy theory in regards to the attack on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul.
In October, Musk tweeted a link to a story within the Santa Monica Observer which claimed Paul Pelosi was drunk and arguing with a male escort on the time of the attack. “There’s a tiny possibility there is likely to be more to this story than meets the attention,” Musk said in his tweet, which was deleted shortly after it was posted.
On Saturday, after receiving an issue on Twitter about whether or not he should apologize to the Pelosis, Musk said: “I apologize.”

A Twitter user asked Musk what he was apologizing for and he replied with a screenshot of his deleted tweet from October.

Musk’s apology got here after bodycam footage of the assault was released Friday.
Pelosi was brutally attacked with a hammer within the early hours of October 28 in his San Francisco home. The attacker, identified by police as David DePape, was charged with attempted murder.Â
The bodycam footage shows police arriving at Pelosi’s home and Pelosi and his attacker struggling over control of the hammer. The attacker is then seen getting hold of the hammer and using it to strike Pelosi over the top.
Representatives for Musk didn’t immediately reply to Insider’s request for comment.
Musk is not the only outstanding public figure to have chimed in on what may need happened the night of the attack. Former President Donald Trump shared conspiracy theories in regards to the attack, including that the house was broken into from the within, saying in an interview: “So it wasn’t a break in, it was a break out.”Â
